Sunday Reflections (Feb. 24, 2013): Church Leadership Summit, Proverbs, Countdown to 2
Church Leadership Summit
On yesterday, Dr. Karry D. Wesley, our Senior Pastor, hosted and facilitated a second Church Leadership Summit for other churches in the DFW Metroplex (the first one was held in January). I appreciate serving with and under a Senior Pastor who believes in pouring into others. I was reminded of how faithfully he preaches-teaches and seeks to live out God’s Word by God’s grace in Christ through the Holy Spirit. It was particularly refreshing to see pastors (and their leaders) who were willing to learn from someone who is essentially one of their peers.
I continued my 13-week teaching series on Proverbs, “Don’t Play The Fool!”, today, looking at chapter 3 verses 1 through 12 in a lesson I entitled, “Fearing God.” I outlined six aspects of what it means to fear God from this passage of Scripture. We had some interactive Bible Study time today. I broke the class up into three groups and assigned each one of three sections of the passage to read and discuss, with my overall guidance. After about 15 minutes, we reconvened to discuss and fill in the lesson outline. It was a good time of participation and study.
Countdown To 2!
We are counting down to our daughter’s 2nd birthday! Yep, time is flying by. The reason I mention this is because we are pretty much seeing the beginning of what some call the “Terrible Twos”. I would prefer to call it the “Temper-Tantrum Twos” because she has been definitely throwing some lately! It’s all good though. We understand that this is simply a part of her development, and we intend to patiently help her grow through it and out of it. 🙂
With all that said, it is an awesome thing to see her grow up before our eyes. She is learning more words, expressing her personality, and mimicking everything she sees us doing. She is a smart, little girl…and we love her.
So, bring on the 2’s! We ain’t never scared! Ha!
Enjoy the rest of your day and have a productive week.
